In the Fall of 2007, recent college graduates Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger decided to write an original television pilot about what they new best: clay pottery artisans circa the Ming Dynasty. When Ming It On turned out to be an unparalleled failure, they reluctantly turned to what they knew second best: twenty-year-olds, trying to support themselves in an overpriced city and winding up stuffed into a too-small apartment with too many people. All that, while trying to answer the terrifying question, “What do I want to be?” Or perhaps, more aptly, (and more horrifyingly), “How do I become what I want to be?” Eager to see their story realized, they turned to producer Chris Plante, and the trio assembled a cast and crew to create the pilot episode of their series, Walk-Up, named after the six-story tenement in which it takes place. In January, 2008, over six long days (one for each floor…coincidence?), the pilot episode of Walk-Up was shot on location in New York City.
Now, as editing of the pilot nears completion, the creative team is seeking donations to pay for music rights, distribution materials, and other post-production costs. While shooting a full length TV episode with an incredibly small crew was a great feat, an even greater challenge lies ahead - bringing the show to the public. Walk-Up’s cast and crew have strived to create a show that is funny and maybe even a little insightful. A show that captures all that is uniquely wonderful and terrifying about embarking on adulthood in the late 2000’s (and no, it’s not just blogging).
Your support is invaluable in bringing Walk-Up to life. Thank you for your consideration.
P.S. As a sign of the producers’ gratitude, all donors will receive an autographed copy of the script for the unproduced second episode of Ming It On, “An Apprentice Makes the Clay, Chapter II”.
